Jenna Sorensen is the founder and a clinical therapist at Calm Tides Counselling, a therapeutic practice based in St. George, NB. She provides both in-person and online therapy sessions for individuals aged 18+, serving Charlotte County and the surrounding areas. Jenna also offers online therapy for residents of New Brunswick and is registered with the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers (NBASW).

Jenna holds a Bachelor of Science in Family Science from the University of Prince Edward Island (2009), a Bachelor of Social Work from St. Thomas University (2013), and a Master of Social Work from St. Thomas University (2024). With over a decade of experience in social work practice, she has worked with a diverse range of individuals and families facing trauma, complex family dynamics, child welfare concerns, intimate partner violence, parenting challenges, and substance use issues. Her Master of Social Work, along with additional psychotherapy training, has further enhanced her direct practice therapy skills.

Her therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration, empathy, respect, and safety, ensuring that every client feels supported and understood as they navigate their journey toward well-being. Jenna takes an integrative approach to therapy, incorporating evidence-based modalities such as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Polyvagal Theory, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. These approaches help clients connect with their emotions and understand how the nervous system influences overall well-being. Additionally, she utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support skill-building, manage distressing thoughts, and increase distress tolerance.

Julie is a licensed counselling therapist at Calm Tides Counselling in St. George, New Brunswick. She has been in private practice for three years in St. George and joined Calm Tides in December 2024. Julie offers both in-person and virtual counselling services for adults and teens in Charlotte County and the surrounding areas, with virtual services available to individuals across New Brunswick.

A Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC, Member ID: 11243797) and a member of the College of Counselling Therapists of New Brunswick, Julie holds the designation of Licensed Counselling Therapist (LCT Member ID: LCT22-038). She earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. Additionally, she is a certified Menopause Doula through Doula Canada.

Julie specializes in supporting individuals navigating trauma, overwhelm, life changes, and anxiety. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT). She also provides trauma therapy through EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a well-researched and effective treatment. As a former foster parent and an adoptive parent, she offers specialized support for foster and adoptive families.

As a lifelong resident of Charlotte County, Julie understands both the rewards and challenges of living in a close-knit, rural community. She approaches therapy with warmth, empathy, and a deep understanding of her clients' unique circumstances, creating a safe and supportive space for them to explore and address their concerns.
